Thai journey affiliation sees eight million vacationers in 2021

The Association of Thai Travel Agents predicted that 8 million foreign tourists could arrive this year if the government reopened the country without quarantining vaccinated travelers by June.

  1. According to ATTA, the tourism industry needs a three-month roadmap to plan for the country to reopen.
  2. If the government continues to insist on 14-day quarantines and the country doesn’t reopen by June, those numbers would be halved.
  3. Even if the country reopens soon, it will take 3 years for the Thai tourism industry to recover by 2019.

The President of the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), Vichit Prakobgosol, has forecast that 200,000 to 300,000 tourists will arrive in June, increasing to 500,000 in July, 1.5 million in October and 2.5 million in December if vaccinated Tourists go on board for the first time in 2 years.

However, Vichit said those numbers would be halved if the government continued to insist on 14-day quarantines and did not reopen the country by June.

The tourism industry needs a three-month roadmap to plan the country’s reopening, Vichit said so that packages and tours can be planned. If the government persists in overzealous border controls, the economy will collapse, he predicted.

He claimed that only 25 percent of the 4 million people employed in the tourism sector still had jobs.

Even if the country reopens soon, it will take three years for the Thai tourism industry to recover to 2019 levels, Vichit predicted.

In the meantime, the government must expand its subsidized domestic tourism campaign and the Let’s Go Halves business incentive initiative, he said.

Thailand is famous for its tourism because the country has invested heavily in its infrastructure to facilitate communication and access to locations. These two factors alone improve tourism. But the real reasons Thailand is so popular is because of the people, the culture, and the natural environment.
