When in-person classroom training stalled due to the pandemic, CommLab India expanded its service repertoire to include the design and development of VILT (Virtual Instructor-Led Training) sessions. VILT helps companies to offer uninterrupted training and reduces the logistical effort involved in organizing training in stationary classrooms.
CommLab India not only designs presentation decks, facilitator manuals and handouts for attendees, but also develops online collaborative activities that replace those used in the physical classroom. Here are three notable virtual teacher-led training projects that CommLab India has worked on. They prove the effectiveness of VILT in handling various training topics for different groups of employees.
Project 1: VILT as part of a blended learning program for managers
One of CommLab India’s clients in the energy sector has implemented a blended learning program for its mid-level managers across the company. VILT was used in two phases in the mix – first, to teach and to provide a very important element of leadership training – human interaction; and second, to offer practice and collaboration – activity-based with learners collaborating in breakout rooms, working on interactive PDFs, sharing results in the main meeting, and much more. CommLab India designed the material for both phases of VILT – for 5000 managers.
Project 2: VILT, followed by “Ask the Expert” sessions
For another client, a leading pharmaceutical company, CommLab India has developed a blended learning program that includes self-study, an eLearning course curriculum, VILT and “Ask the Expert” sessions. eLearning courses were at the core of learning and each eLearning course was followed by a virtual discussion where learners discussed critical elements under the guidance of a teacher. Occasionally, there were virtual meetings with subject matter experts in which anecdotes, best practices, tips and tricks and important contextual details were exchanged.
Project 3: VILT for inclusivity training
For a global provider of marketing solutions, CommLab India developed eLearning courses and VILT sessions from the educational material for inclusion training. While eLearning has been used to facilitate knowledge transfer, VILT sessions allowed learners to meet in breakout rooms to discuss scenarios that could create feelings of exclusion in different contexts and brainstorm how to avoid / deal with them .
