Planning a Carnival Cruise from Florida Port Miami in 2021?

A carnival cruise from Port Miami is usually the start of a great vacation for many Americans. “We are so happy to be back! “Said CarnivalCEO Arnold Donald today.

Carnival Horizon’s big sail just left on July 4th

  1. Carnival Cruise Line launched its first cruise in nearly 16 months from PortMiami, the cruise capital of the world, today with the departure of Carnival Horizon, adding a significant boost to the local economy and the tens of thousands of jobs in South Florida supported by the cruise industry.
  2. The resumption of Mardi Gras brings guests a highly anticipated vacation and is another boost to the local and state economies.
  3. Florida ranks number one in the country for cruise shipments, with the cruise industry contributing more than $ 9 billion in direct purchases and responsible for over 159,000 jobs.

In Miami-Dade alone, cruise activity generates approximately $ 7 billion in spending and 40,000 jobs annually. Of the 437,000 jobs supported by the cruise industry in the United States, nearly 37% are in Florida.

Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, Arnold Donald, President and CEO of Carnival Corporation, and Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald opened the celebrations with an opening ceremony to officially welcome the guests on board.

“PortMiami is our number one homeport for the shipping and passenger embarkation industry for a living,” said Duffy. “The past year has been challenging to say the least, and I would like to thank our state and local officials, PortMiami, as well as our business partners and suppliers for their incredible support and patience during this time.”

“The cruise ship restart from Miami is an exciting day for Miami’s dockers. We have approximately 800 members at PortMiami and their salaries have fallen by as much as 80% during the nearly 16-month cruise hiatus. Today, with the first Carnival Horizon sailing, we are back to work and look forward to supporting our families again, ”said Torin Ragin, President of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Local 1416.

Carnival Horizon will set sail at 4 p.m. today on a six-day cruise with stops in Amber Cove, Dominican Republic and the Bahamian private island of Half Moon Cay.

In addition to the Carnival Horizon’s departure this afternoon, the Carnival Vista departed Galveston yesterday, with Carnival Breeze departing Galveston on July 15 and Carnival Miracle opening the line’s Alaska season on July 27 in Seattle. Mardi Gras, the newest ship in the line, sets sail from Port Canaveral on July 31st. More ships in the Carnival fleet will start service in August.

The world looked grim in January when Carnival canceled all upcoming cruises through March 31 – and that was just the beginning.
