It is clear that people with disabilities face barriers when it comes to traditional teacher-led training. Organizations today adapt to their needs; Provision of handouts in greater pressure or provision of adaptive hearing aids. While the virtual classroom removes the barrier to travel to a physical location, it requires specific accessibility considerations, similar to traditional ILT programs.

A growing number of teachers focusing on virtual platforms are immediately apparent when subtitles are required. This applies to both live and on-demand virtual training. However, subtitles are not only important for people with disabilities. It is a valuable aid for ESL (English as a Second Language) viewers as well as for people who process information slowly. Before the training

Facilitators can be better prepared to provide accommodation and remove these virtual learning environment challenges if they know in advance what will be required. A best practice is to proactively send a short survey immediately after registering. Provide an overview of what is expected in the class and ask learners to identify any challenges that would affect their ability to access the event or content. Assure attendees that the goal is to ensure that everyone can fully participate in the training.

Many people with visual problems rely on screen readers to decipher written material. When preparing for VILT sessions, it is a good idea to load supplemental documents and slides onto the platform as early as possible so that those who rely on adaptive devices have enough time to preview the supporting material before the set start time . Similarly, trainers who want to show video clips during a virtual training course should make them available to learners with special needs in advance so that they can use them in advance with accessibility enabled.

During training

If a video training course includes film clips, those with impaired vision may need scaffolding or subtitling to describe the scenes as hearing the dialogue alone may not be enough for them.
