SpeakerChats: Free Convention Displays, Main Audio system

The eLearning guild has launched SpeakerChat, free access to pre-recorded online presentations of popular and highly rated personal meetings of the guild as well as live video conferencing with the moderators. SpeakerChat features industry leaders from our key conference events such as Learning Solutions, Realities360 and DevLearn. This unique combination gives you access to great conference sessions and the ability to connect with the speaker.

  • SpeakerChat is tailored to the needs of learners who work from home or who now have irregular working hours.
  • In each video presentation, the subtopics are indexed and timestamped so that professional learners can access the video content based on their needs and interests.
  • In addition to the video presentation, The Guild will host a live chat session with the moderator on Zoom.

The first SpeakerChat on Zoom with a moderator will take place on April 17th: “Creating microlearning and more with PowerPoint”. The video recording (Richard Göring’s “Create Effective Micro-Learning in Record Time with PowerPoint”) is already open for free access so you can view it now.

Each SpeakerChat consists of two parts. The first part is a video recording of a session that was popular at a guild conference and organized so that you can view it in your own order on your own schedule. The second part, a few days later, is a live Q&A with the original speaker, moderated by one of The Guild’s event managers, Mark Britz or Bianca Woods. Mark and Bianca will take questions from the audience and add their own questions that delve deeper into the topics and ideas of the recorded presentation. This format adds context and connection.

The recordings last 45-60 minutes. The zoom chat lasts 30-60 minutes. The costs? Free.

SpeakerChat switches with GuildChat on Fridays from mid-April to June at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. A Friday will be SpeakerChat; the next will be GuildChat; and so on.

How does it work further?

SpeakerChats will cover a wide range of L&D topics. Every second Monday (from April 13th) the guild will announce the name of the upcoming speaker and topic on the TWIST blog page. a link to the recording that will be highlighted; and provide a timestamped list of all major subtopics in the session recording. We invite all members of the Guild community to watch the recording as they see fit during the week and to participate in an informal video chat with the speaker on Friday of this week at 11 a.m. Pacific time to discuss key points and answer specific questions about the meeting answer.

At the end of each SpeakerChat, the details of the next SpeakerChat will be announced. For example, at the end of the SpeakerChat on April 17th, we will announce the details for the SpeakerChat on May 1st. This gives time to review the video recording before the live SpeakerChat.

While people who currently have an online conference subscription will have access to the full eLearning Guild library of session recordings at any time, we will temporarily open access to the session recordings included in SpeakerChat for everyone. So, if you don’t have an online conference subscription, you can still take a look at what they look like.
