President of Italy on G20 Rome Pointers for the Way forward for Tourism

Today’s meeting of G20 tourism ministers was one of the first official appointments of Italian President Sergio Mattarella.

  1. The pandemic has forced us to temporarily close. But Italy is ready to welcome the world back.
  2. The economies will be different after the pandemic. Some sectors will shrink while others will expand.
  3. The G20 guidelines for the future of tourism in Rome are a clear blueprint for the resumption of global tourism.

Here are some comments from President Mattarella on this important meeting of G20 tourism ministers in Rome:

“That is very fitting and symbolic … Few countries are as closely linked to tourism as Italy. The world longs to travel here.

“The pandemic has forced us to close temporarily. But Italy is ready to welcome the world back. Our mountains, our beaches, our cities and our landscape are opening up again. And this process will accelerate in the coming weeks and months.

“I have already said that our economies will be different after the pandemic. Some sectors will shrink while others will expand.
