Jürgen Steinmetz, Chairman of the World Tourism Network, said:

“The Maldives breathes travel and tourism. I have had the pleasure of traveling to the Maldives often over the past 30 years.

The Maldives is without a doubt one of the most beautiful beach and diving destinations in the world. The Maldives, with luxury resort hotels spanning hundreds of islands, is also an ideal place to maintain social distance when a travel and tourism destination is safely reintroduced.

The World Tourism Network is excited to partner with MITDC and to continue to work with Mohamed Raaidh. Mohamed is already a familiar face in our ongoing discussions.

We would now like to invite stakeholders in the Maldives, hotels, resorts, attractions and airports to join our network.

WTN has become a leading force in the world of travel and tourism, especially for small and medium sized independent businesses in the world.

Many of these Maldives-based organizations ideally represent this profile. Welcome to the Maldives!

The Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC.)) said:

Our primary goal is to bring economic growth to the country by expanding the possible paths of the tourism sector through the systematic and planned development of integrated tourism in this branch.

In order to diversify the constantly growing tourism and hospitality industry in the Maldives, the Maldivian government has examined the possibility of opening up the medium-sized tourism market that is currently growing in the Maldives. And as part of this initiative, the Maldivian government has started to develop the concept of integrated tourism in the Maldives.

In contrast to the traditional one-island-one-resort concept of the current resorts where all services are provided by a single operator, we intend to involve multiple entrepreneurs to provide various services such as guest houses, community centers, spas, restaurants, water sports, Amusement parks. This is mainly to encourage engagement and revenue for the local businesses.

In addition, it is our priority to include the contribution of the local community in the tourism sector and grow the community’s economy significantly.
