Local weather Change Actuality For Florida Condominium Collapse Triggers Hazard For Miami Seashores, Tourism, And Millionaires | ETurboNews

The hip tourist destination and home to millionaires in the Miami Beach area is on the verge of collapse. Dr. Shimon Wdowinski has focused on the development and application of space geodetic techniques that can detect small movements of the earth’s surface very precisely. He told the Daily Mail in London that he immediately knew which building in Seaside, Florida, collapsed and killed many.

  • Climate change and rising oceans could cause the Florida Champlain Tower Condo building to collapse, with the likelihood of many more to come.
  • F.Shimon Wdowinski, a professor at Lorida International University, said he knew which building collapsed when he heard the news of the Seaside Champlain Tower South Condo building in Florida.
  • Three other hotel and condominiums in Surfside, Park View Island and South Miami Beach in the Flamingo neighborhood are sinking faster.

Dr. Shimon Wdowinski, a professor at Florida International University, had studied the construction report published last year that included Champlain Towers in Surfside Florida. He understands why buildings in Miami, Florida that were built on wetlands are now falling.

The impending disappearance of coasts has made many aware of the dangers of climate change. Wetlands in particular – with their ability to protect coastal cities from floods and storms and to filter out pollution – offer protection that could be lost in the future

According to the study, the Champlain Tower Condo building sank at a rate of about 2 millimeters per year in the 1990s because it sits on reclaimed wetlands.

The same report indicated this three other locations sank faster – another in Surfside on Park View Island, which has homes and an elementary school nearby, and two in south Miami Beach in the Flamingo neighborhood.

This may be just the beginning of much more for this trendy neighborhood and the travel and tourism industries in South Florida.

The Champlain Tower Condo building in Surfside collapsed three days ago, potentially killing hundreds or more people who are currently reported missing in the rubble.

Miami Beach over sinking wetland

Climate change is real.

Dr. Shimon Wdowinski received a BSc in Earth Sciences (1983) and an MSc in Geology (1985) from Hebrew University (Jerusalem, Israel) and an MS in Engineering (1987) and a Ph.D. in Geophysics (1990) from Harvard University. He conducted postdoctoral studies at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (1990-1993); worked on the Geological Survey of Israel for one year (1993-1994); worked for a decade as a faculty in the Department of Geophysics and Planetary Sciences at Tel Aviv University, first as a lecturer (assistant professor, 1994-1998) and then as a permanent senior lecturer (associate professor, 1998-2004); and spent another decade in the Department of Marine Geosciences at the University of Miami, first as adjunct research professor (2005-2016) and then as research professor (2015-2016). He joined Florida International University’s Department of Earth and Environment in 2016 as a permanent adjunct professor.

Research areas

Dr. Shimon Wdowinski has focused on the development and application of space geodetic techniques that can detect small movements of the earth’s surface very precisely. He has successfully applied these techniques to study tectonic plate movements, earthquakes, subsidence, sinkhole activity, wetland hydrology, climate change, and sea level rise.
