Aeromexico provides 28 new Boeing plane to its fleet

Aeromexico agrees on a monumental fleet increase

  • Aeromexico acquires twenty-four new Boeing 737 aircraft, including the B737-8 and B737-9 MAX
  • Aeromexico adds four 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft to its fleet
  • These transactions mark a milestone in Aeromexico’s transformation for years to come

As part of the airline’s restructured agreements with the manufacturer, Aeromexico has agreed to add twenty-four (24) new Boeing 737 aircraft, including B737-8 and B737-9 MAX, and four (4) 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft to its fleet and certain lessors to add new aircraft. Other suppliers and financial companies also participated in these transactions, resulting in a large business that offers the carrier several advantages.

The addition of the first aircraft is planned for this year. Nine (9) will be offering flights this summer season. The rest will arrive in the second half of 2021 and 2022. These transactions are a milestone in Aeromexico’s transformation for years to come and their economic conditions are very competitive compared to current market levels.

These transactions will allow Aeromexico to amend long-term maintenance contracts and reduce the lease costs of eighteen (18) other aircraft that are part of the current fleet. Aeromexico estimates that reaching this comprehensive agreement will result in total savings of approximately $ 2 billion.

Thanks to the savings, the company will be able to offer even more competitive fares and guarantee customers the best travel experience in state-of-the-art aircraft with ground and on-board services that only Aeromexico can offer.

The comprehensive agreements must be approved by the U.S. Southern District Court of New York, which is responsible for Aeromexico’s Chapter 11 voluntary financial restructuring process.
