Israel Delegation at Arabian Journey Market could get stranded in Dubai

The threat of civil war in Israel and the hostilities between Israel and Palestine now reflect high hopes in the Arab travel market in Dubai to increase tourism cooperation between these countries.

  1. The airlines Etihad Airways and flydubai from the United Arab Emirates have canceled flights to Tel Aviv and, together with American and European airlines, avoided Israel due to escalating hostilities.
  2. The Israeli stand in the Arab travel market was reduced to a very small shelf space
  3. The current situation signals uncertainty for the travel and tourism market in Israel and Palestine

Airlines in the UAE, which established diplomatic relations with Israel last year, have only started regular flights to Israel in the past few months.

The Etihad of Abu Dhabi has suspended all passenger and freight services to Tel Aviv from Sunday, it said on its website, citing the conflict.

“Etihad is monitoring the situation in Israel and maintaining close contact with authorities and security service providers,” it said.

Flydubai also canceled flights from Dubai on Sunday, its website reveals, despite two flights being operated on Saturday. Further flights are planned for next week, according to the website.

The airline recently operated fewer than its scheduled four daily flights due to a drop in demand.
